Footage of a big cockroach-like insect, the animal has nice gradient colors and a hard shell. If you know what it is, please leave a comment.

[UPDATE] Thanks to bryan kyckelhahn, and the whatsthatbug.com/ folks (Daniel Marlos and Eric Eaton) we now know that the insect was a Euchroma gigantea, one of the Metallic Wood Boring Beetles in the
family Buprestidae :)

    É um tipo de cigarra. Não são comuns em São Carlos? Quando pequeno, na escola, sempre pegávamos pra assustar as meninas. Acho que elas ficavam em uma mangueira que tinha no pátio. Bons tempos...

    meu, nao é cigarra, cigarra eu pegava de monte ai neste bairro(isto foi filmado em Ribeirao Preto) qdo era menor tb p/ botar em estojo de meninas, este parece mais besouro mesmo, tem as asas bem duras

    browsing that website's beetles, it looked similar to Metallic Wood Boring Beetles, there are two very similar to this one:

    Metallic Wood Boring Beetle from Panama

    I may shoot them an email anyways...

    Your beetle is indeed one of the Metallic Wood Boring Beetles in the
    family Buprestidae. We do not believe it is Euchroma gigantea but we
    might be wrong. Perhaps one of our readers knows for sure.
