A quick experiment, and not particularly great looking, with creating Conway's Game of Life using Processing. Primarily because I wanted a quick project.

    How did you get that effect over the whole thing? Did you just record your screen with a camera?

    I used additive blending and rigged wrote the program so that when a cell is made alive it increases slightly in opacity - repeatedly being alive means it increases to 100% opacity, while those that are alive for a short time only reach a low opacity.
    It was outputted as frames and then I used Virtualdub to create the mpeg4 version.
