Such a great visualization technique for understanding how the composition works. Any details on how you made this?

i used Processing for the actual drawing, but wrote a python script to extract the note information from the midi file that's providing the audio. so all the drawing code is really doing is mapping the pitch range of the song to the y axis then stepping through the score a few dozen ms at a time.

this sort of visualization is far from new of course. i remember the first midi sequencer i played with on the 128k macintosh used a similar pitch/time plot. and of course piano rolls have been using this notation for a century...

I have always loved this piece and when I stumbled upon this video I was very impressed. The visual helps immensely with deciphering the various parts and individual pieces. It is obvious that this took great effort, and for true fans of classical music, it is a treasure. Muy Bien!
