Absolutely wonderful work. Made even better as I know all of those places inside out — but the filming and music were just spot-on. You definitely picked the right day to film this — so atmospheric!

Again, a marvel to watch. Thanks and looking forward to your next works.

    You are a genius.

The sharpness is awesome for a 35mm adapter, but how did you create the side defocus? it's tweaking the lens or made in post?
  • Philip Bloom 5 months ago
thanks! I used Hartblei shift tilt lenses
  •

This is INSANELY good! Very Jealous!!

In fact, I'm gonna delete my channel cos there's no point me even TRYING to do something as good as this!

Real nice footage man, two questions for ya when you have a moment...

    1. What kit did/do you use for timelapse pans (as in the first shot?

    2. Have you enhanced/created any of the DOF effects on some shots? If so, how? If not, how did you capture such crazy planes of focus? On some shots it's basically perpendicular to the angle of the lens.

Hope you can shed some light (no pun) on my technical wonderings...

In general, both artistically and technically, your short is truly beautiful. You really did all that in 4hours shooting and 4hours post? Nice work.

    peas.

  • Philip Bloom 5 months ago
If you look at my new short in Japan, that is a proper motorized timelapse. This was simply 1080p timelapse on a 720p timelime, zoomed in and tracker left to right!

The lenses I used for that odd DOF effect are Hartblei shift tilt lensea, like lens babies.

    thanks!

Your camera work is AMAZING. You've given me a new appreciation for HD video, this was better than watching a crappy close-up sports game or video game or anything like that. I would pay good money to see more of this! Keep it up!!

Philip Bloom has carved himself a large pie of appreciation here at Vimeo.. "South Bank" is truly a great piece of work. I just think that putting the radiohead song to this visual delight was smart. I loved the train station scenes. It is the composition that makes Philip Blooms work shine. And shine it does...
