Yes, 1280x720 would make more sence, I think. It looks like you added black bars too. Black bars (letterbox) take up space (file size is bigger than need be).

For Vimeo use 1280x720 and turn off letterbox. I don't know what editing software you use, but vimeo.com/eugenia has some very informative tutorials you could have a look at.
