Face to face with a Wasp
I noticed this guy and had to get some video. It's a little shakey because I was balancing on the handrail of my porch and I could only use 1 tripod leg.

My brother last year got stun repeatedly at the fair by a wasp on his neck. They will ruin your day.
He was sleeping when I woke him up with 150 watts of light in his face. Im sure he wanted to sting me.
Good match between music and insect.
I liked your slow-mo test.
Which lens did you use?
I shoot through a 180mm SLR macro lens.
I'm pretty sure he was a fresh one, they usually don't fly right away.
what is that thing? somebody get Simon Frankson on the line
look like extra eyes...
but im not sure
Mostly I see the wasps like in the video and every once in a while I will see a black one like this pbase.com/jra111/image/47217869 and one other time I saw a red one but it was a mud wasp.
I had to get real close and use an extra lens.
i wanna get a raynox drc-250, does it come close to such a result?
I like all your vidoes by the way. I think this one just looks the best. Like your honing in the the perfect method.
Is the Canon or the Sony and is this the reverse 50mm?
I just got a Sony SR12 and just need the time
I used a 150watt dish light this time and it worked so much better. This one used my 180mm slr macro lens (picture in my profile pics) and the very last shat was with the reversed 50 wich was super close but it was too shakey.
Your videos have have gotten quite good and they're interesting. I enjoy watching them.
Excelente !!!
Just saw 'Startroopers' from Verhoeven again with a whole buch of those 'bugs'. Yours is even more frightening... hihi
You could seriously make a film with that camera :)
I tried macro'ing bugs a inverse 135mm telelens, but I cannot get the darn footage still. It would help if there's no wind. Also the focus isn't as good as non-macro, but I think you gave a hint away when talking about 150 watts of light in the bugs' face! :)
