A young American living in 2005 Berlin (it's a period piece)-- on the one hand looking to his past for comfort and on the other hand struggling to change in order to stop being such an obvious foreigner in his new environment.

Failing on both counts, he suddenly hears the voice of the local trains as if for the first time: "Dieser Zug fährt nach mir....Einsteigen bitte [this train is bound toward me...Please board]."

He knows in that instant that he must board that train. He must ride it to the end of the track and find the the woman who spoke those words, for it is only through her love and guidance that he can finally do away with his past and blend seamlessly and blissfully into his adopted society. Will he succeed?
