Road Movie / Ocular Harpsichord
This is documentation of a video performance. Using Puredata and Gem, I built a patch to control video loops using a midi keyboard. The keys would choose which loop to play, knobs controlled an oscillator which determined the position in the loop, and the modulation served as a crossfader.
There were two parts of the audio presentation: part of the audio was a live loop selector, controlled similarly to the videos, and the other was pre-recorded audio, which served in part as a score, which I tried to play the video along with.
Some of the source video comes from my trip across the country with my girlfriend several years ago; the video and music together seem to congeal and fix the memory in place, a process of active remembering.
