2. Aiptek A-HD Mic-In Audio Test
I got the AHD a couple weeks ago. I like the video - the audio is unusable, however. I couldn't even talk while using it, it clipped my voice. Clipping and static were horrible.

So, I ripped the microphone out.

I also ripped the audio-in port out of an old voice recorder, and soldered it into this camcorder. I'm using a cheap walmart mic in this test video.

This was a quick video I just shot to test it. I'm playing the radio on my laptop fairly loud. The mic is right next to the lens. I start farther away, and towards the end of the video, I have the microphone directly over the speaker.

I'll get a better test up tomorrow, hopefully with a better microphone.

Notice, no clipping, minimal static. Booyah!

Yeah, the sound quality was really bad, so bad I even returned the Aiptek A-HD a while ago, although for some reason I still keep the channel I have, up and running.

    Good modification!
Was that a computer mic that you were using?
What version firmware is the A-HD using?

Yep - this is the mic I used - ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/61Q4YabfCYL._AA280_.jpg

The camera came with firmware 2.002 - wish I could go back to the previous version - care more about video quality than auido. Oh well.

Hi Michael - sorry took so long to reply, didn't get an email about your comment - anyway, I'll see about getting directions up for you.
