Hoopeston tells the story of a heartland town that made international headlines when a group of Wiccans moved there to establish the world's first Witch School. As the Witches battle Christian opposition, Hoopeston's residents struggle to cope with decline and change: a young entrepreneur buys the only motel in town, the police chief fights a meth epidemic, and the Correllian Chancellor lays plans for a vast Crystal Web.

I am proud to be from Hoopeston, Illinois and proud that my old home town, though down on its luck and hurting, rejected the Wiccans who only came to Hoopeston because of low real estate values. The values that have sustained the good people of Hoopeston may not conform to politically correct ideals, but likewise the Wiccans and their strange rites did not conform to Hoopeston´s beliefs. It is very possible that the Wiccans are good people, but it is certain that the people of Hoopeston are. Hoopeston will decide what is good for Hoopeston. The Wiccans chose to leave because they were not accepted...and free people can accept or reject freely as long as they do so within the confines of the law. I am a writer and am planning to look into the whole Wiccan story. But I will say this, the photography is good, especially if you want to portray the very worst of a town I and many thousands of residents and former residents love.
