This is my first video with my first video camcorder, Canon HV30. Still not sure what I am doing, but ya got to start somewhere.
Canon HV 30 (with Canon TL-H43 telephoto converter).
Tripod.
Settings; 30p with Cine mode (if that is possible, I selected 30p first, then changed the program mode to Cine Mode)
Edited using iMovie 08.
Trying to learn how to get correct exposure in high contrast areas. Some minor camera shake near the end of the footage

Oh, BTW, once you shoot 30p, you'll never shoot 60i. Great footage....Where is this??

BTW, 60i good also. You get smoother video and is better for sports and other fast action. 60i is also good for slow motion.
Nope, no tricks, all the footage was shot in the wild. Though I will say that the pileated woodpecker, who are normally very shy, for some reason wasn't so shy that day. I definitely got lucky with the woodpecker footage. The owls can be found frequently off the boardwalk at Francis Beidler Forest, you just have to be patient and stay all day long.
Nice timing of music with the owl.
