1. THEO (official movie trailer)
A short film written and directed by Rati Oneli. Cinematography by David Barkan. Editing by Ramiro Suarez. Executive producer Jacob Gali. Lead - Thomas Andren.

THEO is a film about a young man who's life is a constant hustle and a never-ending cycle of ups and downs. The film documents several days of Theo's life and depicts his inner, emotional condition rather than following a conventional narrative. It's a story of a modern human, caught in the "relentless-right-now", lost in the powerful vortex of life, unable to find a way out or define himself, and unwilling to change.

Seamless. Not sure I caught the whole "story" but loved every second of it.

Was this film shot with the JVC or the HV20?
  •
  • Rati Oneli 2 years ago
    Ray - thank you.

Eugenia - What you see in the trailer was shot with JVC HD100, with a 35mm adapter. But small parts of the movie were also shot with HV20.

Compression is way off though. Color space has changed among other things and the quality is degraded.

Loved the style of the movie. Feels like it's going to be a sort of moder day noir, similar to "Gone Baby Gone" or "Brick".

Not sure about the trailer though. I don't know much about the movie, but maybe that was the purpose. Anyway, I'd definitely be interested in seeing the finished product.

I'd like to see more of THIS stuff on Vimeo, instead of camera tests and montages on different things.

Outstanding composition. What lens was used for wide shots?

Louis, thank you. We used Nikon Nikon 14-24MM F/2.8 ED-IF AF-S and Nikon 17-35 2.8 AF-S EDIF. Mostly the latter one.

Very good. Like it a lot! Ceratainly has elements I can relate too and that's what makes it so compelling.

    Nice job.

thank you for the comments everyone!
I'm (humbly ;) the DP in Theo...
I had a lot fun shooting this film, and I'm still impressed with the results we got with the JVChd100+redrock m2 combo... the texture is very pleasing to the eye.
    cheers

viHDeo, sorry for the late reply man. Vimeo doesn't notify of new postings. We had a really good sound person on our film. Digital multi-track recorder + boom. Basic set-up.
