There are some sounds that are very similar to Clown on the latest album of Goldfrapp.
    Is this Zeitgeist of trend?
    Great video, however.

I think a new genre is brewing and being thrown into more popular knowledge. If not already there. No name yet though. And during this time it's easy to understand similarity of new sounds as something else than just the sound of the guitar strumming :)

That's interesting. What other bands would you include? Sigur Ros?
  • Sami Sänpäkkilä 6 months ago
Definately. They are superfamous now. During my lifetime I think this thing happened around the time when Nirvana came out with Nevermind and Grunge was born. Sonic Youth went massive on that wave (of course they had been around for way much longer, but just as an example). Just one year prior no one would have even thought of hearing that kinda music on the prime time tv and radio. And its always been like that since Elvis, Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, Pink Floyd and such bands happened. The alternative turns into mainstream and we have to invent new music to call alternative.

If that is really the case then I am yet to find a non Scandinavian, English or Finnish band featuring this sound. Maybe it's a Nordic thing?
