Políssonos is a loop-based midi sequencer that elicits the relation between the rhythmical division of time and the shapes of polygons. It was developed in September 2007, for the month of "Music + Mathematics", in October 2007, at Casa da Música. A simple midi sequencer at its core, Políssonos is mainly a proposal for a loop orientated alternative to the traditional “piano roll” interface.

Hy there! Are you the author of Sonasphere? If true, I must say I absolutely love your interfaces... you have been an inspiration for some years now!... Thank you for your comment!...
  • Nao Tokui 2 years ago
Yes I am :-) Thank you for the compliment.

It would be great if we can share ideas / information etc. I have a few technical questions on your projects.

Did you write this in Processing?
  • Rui Penha 2 years ago
Yes, Políssonos was written in Processing, Narrativas Sonoras is a Processing interface with a Max MSP engine.

The source will be on my website very soon. You can also find there my email and some info about a project called Digitópia: I've been willing to contact you, believe it or not!, about that project!...

Wow.. I'd love to know how you managed things like timing and threading in Processing. I have tried several sound libraries for Processing. They are very convenient, but not so accurate in terms of timing.

Music Application with Processing interface and Max/MSP engine is a very interesting idea. I might follow your path in my next project.

Looking forward to hearing from you on your Digitopia project. Keep in touch, Rui ;-)

    Hi again!

I've been testing and showing your new software to some people... it's amazing, I must tell you: clearly the best approach to music making on the web age I've seen so far. I'll get back to you on this latter...

Just in case you're interested, I've just posted the source code for Políssonos on my website:

    All the best!

Artech?, where, when? I have sensor boards to sell, good to know about new venues..
  • Rui Penha 1 year ago
"Artech 2008 is the fourth international workshop held in Portugal and Galicia on the topic of Digital Arts." website: artes.ucp.pt/artech2008/
I'm afraid that the submissions for papers closed last week and the deadline for installations closes today (still trying to finnish mine!), but it's close enough from home ;)
Where can I find more info about your sensor boards?
    All the best, Rui
