Canon HF100 without and with WD-H37c wide-angle lens.
Download link is: WMVHD, 20Mbps CBR (no audio)

I noticed at the full tele end the WD-H37c performs not so great. You see CA and some resolution loss. Otherwise at wide performs very well.

UPDATE: I bought a step-up ring for the WD-H43 wide-angle lens (bit better at tele end).

What's a CA? Some sort of artifact?

Yes, see here good explanation (and the example is pretty much what you see at full zoom with this lens): en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chromatic_aberrations

did you test 12 x and 200x zoom
you will see the real dif Q43 against Q37 and 1/2.7'' against 1/3.2'' take it..
    loves,

I only test optical zoom since digital zoom is simply a post-processing zoom (on the Canon's that is).

On full 12x zoom the WD-H43 performed very well with the HF100 and a step-up ring (the WD-H37C pretty bad). At full wide they are all similar and pretty good.

Thanks for posting this! It was really helpful to see the use of the wide-angle lens. I plan on using it in-car with no zooming. (thanks also for your in car vids)

You're welcome:-). I'll be keeping the WD-H37C despite CA at full tele, since it's pretty light and performs very well at full wide angle.

The WD-H43 performs very well at full tele but it's heavy and not sure if it could damage the ring over time.

What is the difference in the WD-H37C II and the WD-H37C, or are we talking about the same thing?
  • Lucien Kleijkers 9 months ago
It's the successor and can't tell for sure it's better. In some video's the WD-H37II appeared better but then I've heard from someone else it's pretty much same (e.g. CA at zoom).

Your reviews are excellent and very helpful. I got the WD-H37II a few days ago for my Canon HF-10.
