Buck Flashroy's videos (49)
Channels / Albums (1)
At the end of one of our band practices, we decided to video one of our sillier songs. Normally we write our own stuff - mostly funk and rock, but this is a new genre we've invented - DEATH SWING! (a mixture of swing and death metal haha). You may notice the riff is stolen from 'Lose yourself' by Eminem!

Anyway, here it is. We were just jamming it so it goes on for quite a while. Also it's a bit messy, but to be fair we had been playing for four hours before this, and we were all hungover from going out for Mo's birthday the night before. To make matters worse, my kick drum pedal broke at the very beginning of the song (the beater fell off) so I couldn't do the bass drum beat I planned - I had to keep it simple instead. Anyway, I'll stop making excuses and let you watch it!

Drums = Me
Guitar = Mo
Bass = Nye

    to show you how old school i am, i coulda swore you guys were doing a riff on the Clash's London Calling.
  • Buck Flashroy 1 month ago
    You're right, it is almost exactly the same!

    I should have said that instead of Eminem - the Clash are far cooler.

    That is indeed like The Clash.....nice job :-)

    "Death Swing" sort of makes me think of a possible tabloid reference to a hazardous piece of playground equipment that has killed 12 toddlers, or perhaps a cheap carnival ride.

    I know...I have this morbid streak.

    Group streak!!!!

    er... never mind.

    Don't censor me please Buck. If that is indeed your real name.

    I want to start rapping that song too, I'll be bringing me mic to the next practise fo' sho (see, I've already started adopting the lingo).

    I had to censor you, you and your crazy outlandish behaviour. It's just not the way rockstars behave...

    Do you want to be The Dregs' support act?
  • Buck Flashroy 1 month ago
    Thanks for the offer, but shouldn't you offer Carl's band the position first?

    Thank God indeed - literally - we practice in the church where my dad's the vicar, and the church is on a hill away from the village, so fortunately we don't disturb anyone.

    So thank you God for giving us a place to practice!

    I like that you're playing the music of the devil in the house of god. Every jam is an epic battle between good and evil - the way it should be.

    Epic!

    You may notice that the video skips in the middle - that's because I cut out a section to make it shorter!

    Epic is good, but there are limits haha. We frequently get lost in the groove and go on for ever! It never seems that long when we're playing, but when I watch it back it seems twice as long haha.

    HECK YES! I would say you owe me a jumper because this was so epic I puked all down it, but there was vomit on my sweater already.

    Waheeey!

    p.s. Nice drumming, Blarnabus! Your guitarist looks like a total ASSWAD though.

    Vomit inducing is definitely the style of music we go for. I'm afraid we can't send you a jumper though - if you look at this video at about 4:12, you'll see Mo mouthing some words. Most people might assume he's mouthing the words to the song, but he's actually mouthing our band's disclaimer; "No jumpers that get vomited on during any of our performances will get replaced, and anyone who vomits during any of our performances has to buy each of us a lovely hat"!

    So actually you owe use three lovely hats please.

    And yeah, the guitarist is a total asswad ;)

    You misunderstand. There was vomit on my sweater already.

    Word Up, this is a public service announcement coming direct from street level.

    When respected Hip-Hop pioneer "The Tangible T" heard about death swing and the campaign for free hats as a response to soiled sweaters he found it in his heart to make a charity video to promote public awareness.
