Shot: April 5 2008, with HV20

This is my second attempt. I brought a tripod this time so hopefully my shots are more stable. As far as zooming & panning, that will come with time I guess.

The snow is rapidly melting and the falls are coming back to life for yet another season. While we were moving from one location to the next, I slipped down an icy ledge and my daughter was frantically yelling “Dad are you ok?” My only thought was “Save the HV20” …lol

Nice framing of shots, like having a postcard in every frame. Even more beautiful than the last video.

This is beautilful Brian. I've never had to experience so much snow in my life. And I plan to keep it that way! :) Here's a tip treating windy recording. Place a thin layer of foam / sponge over the microphone. Thick enough to block wind gust which causes distortions, but not too porous/dense to block the audio itself. You'd lose couple of dB of audio, but of which at most time you can gain back from your NLE. It might even help to cut down on the unwanted low rumbles.

Thanks Rast.. just using the onboard mic right now. but maybe ill try that. gonna get a better mic at some point. slowly adding 1 peice at a time just orderd a wide angel :)

Oh sure.. I remember that 1 pc at a time talk!!
Can't blame you coz its great fun and Vimeo folks are really pushing the home video standards by a mile! I only got my cam 5 mths ago and look where they got me!! Mic, wide angle, filters, monopod, tripod, XLR adapter, reflectors... 1 pc at a time every week!!

Wow, that was a hell of a metdown. Very well done Brian :)
Rasta gave you some good tips there, and be carefull with the HV20.
Summer coming up, how does it look there now? You could do a four seasons docu...
  • Brian Boudreau 2 months ago
Thanks Pierre, that is a good idea, the water slows down alot in the summer and in the fall its really beuatiful up there. I have some footage from mid april but never did anything with it yet but i will have to get back up there over the summer months and shoot some :)
