The North Country Trail runs from New York to North Dakota over a distance of 4,600 miles. Over 1,800 miles are certified as off-road miles with more miles being added all the time. Additional mileage can involve road walks and some multi-use paths. The trail, along with its numerous side trails, could not exist without the dedicated work of volunteers. On April 5, 2008 I joined 16 other volunteers from the Western Michigan chapter of the NCTA to build a half-mile long connector trail between Highbanks Lake Campground and the North Country Trail.
