Rocket candy is a mixture of saltpeter, table sugar, and corn syrup that is carefully baked at low heat, then formed into shape and dried. Smooth and steady burn with little ash/residue.

The potato gun is fashioned out of PVC pipe with a threaded cap at the end of the combustion chamber, and a grill sparker inserted and glued into a hole in the chamber. Right Guard (the traditional variety) makes a fine propellant. A potato pushed down into the smaller pipe is the ideal projectile.
