Located near Lancaster, CA in the Antelope Valley. California Poppy which is the official state flower blooms in its full glory every spring (late March - Mid May). Strong high desert wind made audio recording condition less than optimal. Used Manfretto Modosteady steadicam. I am still learning to use it. I tried shoulder brace and steadicam mode. Compression seems to make the color bleed. It's really too bad I can't reproduce the original quality on this site. Filmed with Canon HV20.

Stillshots taken with HV20 can be viewed at

Pretty flowers, yes. But it seems to have no fragrance. I found that to be very interesting. Maybe that's a good thing. It may mean little or no pollen flying around. I didn't have to sneeze when I was at the preserve.

Reminds me of the Wizard of Oz!

Interesting comment. Now that I think about it. It does look somewhat like the yellow brick road to the Wizard of OZ. Only thing is a big distant castle!!
