1080p framegrabs: cid-0a4ae3fb12a26635.skydrive.live.com/browse.aspx/Public
1. Default
2. Vivid
3. Neutral
4. Custom (brightness and contrast -1)
5/6/7. F8, F4, F1.8
8. 30p
I did another mode comparison test (this time with a more challenging scene).
Not the sharpest video I shot with the HF100 but you still see the differences. This is with the wide-angle lens (next time I test with focus infinity and without the lens though it performs well at the wide-end).
I also tested different apertures. For some reason F8 was bit blurry (maybe shutter time limitation).

Carles 1 year agoi think because at F/8 lenses loses sharpess, better at F/3 to F/4 to keep best sharpness. -
Lucien Kleijkers 1 year agoF8 I'd expected to be less sharp but not F4 compared to F1.8. However I think this test is inconclusive, I definitely need more testing to rule out other test anomalies. -
Lucien Kleijkers 11 months agoSomeone else while ago did a similar test and came to the same result. So seems you're best off with larger apertures (or just leave it in auto).
