Wow! You got some amazing shots of that wasp, I like when the stinger opens up a bit. Very good contolled panning too.

That was cool. Great footage. Just a suggestion when editing if you hit it with a touch of contrast it will make it pop and take away alot of the haze from the close up filters.

    Please keep posting more.

Thanks for the suggestion, and for adding me to your channel. Its cool to see the difference between the wasps you filmed and mine. I was wondering what you would suggest rendering these videos as to get the best color and sharpness? I am quite new to both filming and editing, im using sony vegas.
  • Lucasberg (Joey) plus 2 years ago
I downloaded it and increased the contrast .2 and the saturation .15 and it came out pretty good. I see you re-loaded it so I will see how it came out foe you.

I usually render to the MainConcept AVC codec with a custom template of 1280x720 30P at 10-12mb a sec.

Well I wasnt sure how to do it. I dont really know how I did it, but here it is. Maby you could describe in short how to adjust thoes settings? If it isnt to much trouble.
    Thanks for all the help.

I had sent you a message but it went wacko.

What you do is click on the event fx under the crop tool on the video clip at the end of the right side, then when the fx window pops up click the sony brightness and contrast, the use the middle slider which is contrast . I usually do about .10-.15 but sometimes more. Not too much or it will make every highlight blown out.

When you the filters it robs the picture of contrast and gives the that hazy greyish cast to it, this just gives some contrast back.

Hope that helps. I'll take a look at your new version tomorrow.

Sweet, I see now. Hope my version looks ok. If not, I now know how to adjust it, Thank you very much.

The set I have is a 3 lens set +1 +2 +4 made by Hoya. The threads are 52mm I use a step up ring 37mm (original SR12 size) to 52mm. You can use all 3 at once, or one, or two to get the shot you want. Sorry I dont have a link for you as I purchased them in town. Hope you can find them. Im sure you would enjoy them.

thats great thanks. I know what your talking about now. I found them at B&H.

    They cost like $50
  • D__E 2 years ago
Great glad I could help. When you get them try all 3 on tele macro setting, move the camera to focus (5-6 inches away) also you can just zoom in, and in the right light you can use your digital zoom to about 24x to get some really nice shots. Enjoy

Horray!! I just bought my Hoya lenses from B&H.
Soon I hope to have some great shots like these.
    Good suggestions from lucasberg too!
I think this may enspire me to go into the woods to go hunting for some insect victims to photo. Dont forget to see Domineke's profile for some more great shots.

dude it's goog but you have to use procoder 3 or somthing else like it for convert it smaler. 265mb for just 1.5 min.
  • D__E 2 years ago
I could have rendered it mp4 or something smaller, but I was worried about quality loss.

mesmerising. Plays with your feeling of scale and you feel like the tiny thing is a monster. Honestly, not knowing exactly how large it is makes you feel a little uncomfortable.

    Nice work dude.

Hi D_E...how did you attach your Hoya 52mm to your sony HDSR12 ???
  • D__E 1 year ago
    I use a step up ring 37mm to 52mm.
  • Allan Browne 1 year ago
Thanks! does this step up ring fit like a glove onto the SR11/12 or should something be altered on the C.C.? Also, does this step up ring come with the Hoya 52mm set? or do they have to be bought seperately, how much does it cost and where can I find one ----BestBuy? How much did you pay for the Hoya 52mm set& step up ring...thanks.
  • D__E 1 year ago
The step up ring and hoya set have to be bought seperately. The step up ring fits great, and can be left on when not using the hoyas. The hoya set fits nice too, but don't tighten it all up to much or they may stick. all together the setup was about 60-70 $ canadian. Hope this is some help.
  • Allan Browne 1 year ago
Sweet, I'm in Canada too, Ontario-Mississauga...which place did you pick it up from? I checked at BestBuy they had no clue what I was talking about.

D_E, I have someone selling their 28mm Formula 5 lens; rare 52 mm Soligor tele-auto lens; 235 mm Soligor zoom lens do you think these would fit the sony sr11???????????
  • D__E 1 year ago
I dont really know... I got the hoya set after trying it out on a friends camera. If any of thoes would work it would probably be the 52 mm set (with a step up ring). Another good thing to do is take youe camera to a store and try differnt lenses on. Most people dont know you can even put lenses on these cameras, so expect some confusion when you ask for a lens for your camcorder.
Not the answer you were looking for, but i hope i was some help.

Alright..i give up. How did you smooth pan while zoomed? I noticed both horizontal and vert were smooth, so is this a motorized tripod, or just smooth movements with a steady hand?
  • D__E 1 year ago
I use a fluid head tripod. Its a Velbon cx 686 nothing special, but makes a huge difference... That and a lot of cutting footage up to find nice smooth shots.

Great close up video.. I just bought SR11 and wasn't aware that my camcorder is capable of this with some addition. Got myself a close up set, inspired by your video.
And yes, very controlled panning !
  • D__E 1 year ago
Glad you enjoyed it. You'll have a great time with the close up set for sure. The fluid head on the tripod helps alot for smooth panning close up.
