    what's that support device you mention that you got on eBay and you sling around your body and it "mounts" to your stomach to support the shoulder mount?

    also, how are you supporting your lilliput on your rail system? i have an hd monitor that i want to support on my rig in a similar fashion... :D

    For a fraction of the price you paid your rig, you could have gone the xh-a1 way and achieved better image quality. The hv30 is an excellent cam but can't compete with prosumer cams in low light scenes.

    I am not sure what you are comparing... the components of the rig or the camera's themselves? {scratching head}

    The last I looked the xh-a1 didn't come with a rail system, 35mm lens, shoulder mount, tripod, etc. :-)

    When you compare the HV30 to the xh-a1 the price is significantly lower for the HV30... I guess if you didn't want or need a tri-pod, raile system, 35mm lens, shoulder mount...etc.... then... I would agree he could have gotten the xh-a1 camera (only) at a fraction of the cost. However, if you were to add the 35mm lens, tripod, rail system, shoulder mount, etc. to the xh-a1 then there would be no savings.

    Well from what I see in his pool table clip, is quite average video quality. An xh-a1 which is much more sensitive in low light would have given him a better picture without having to mess about with 50lbs of equipment which doesn't even help: shacky image, grain...

    I am comparing stock xh-a1 to hv30+the useless expensive stuff added to it.

    Thanks for taking the time to explain all this. My only comment would be to rid yourself of a few pounds by:
    1) Change the Energizer to a 12VDC battery. This will rid you of the AC adapters and lamp cords. You do not need to be an electrician to make this work.
    2) Move the component adapter, XLR adapter and anything else you can to the back of the rig. This will balance out the glass at the front. The fulcrum should be the top of your shoulder. I wouldn't trust the XLR adapter as my mount point to the tripod... too flimsy.
