The second of two animations charting a relationship stuck in a rut, where the couple struggle between aggression and affection. Rotoscoped at quite a low frame rate. Still took an age!

    Nice aesthetic Nik!

Was that done with a grey led pencil?

I found the light on the left a little overpowering at times, but it was never too distracting from the rotoscope.

    Hi,

Thanks for the comment! I'm glad you liked it. Because it was a rushed piece I printed out the image sequence and then rotoscoped by sandwiching a piece of carbon paper between the photo and some plain paper. Then just drew over the photo. This led to a bluey line, which i wasn't very happy with when it came to sticking it all in after effects, so i turned up the contrast which unfortunately led to the horrible glare of the light. I've still got the roughs, so i think next time i won't be so lazy and i'll scan them in rather than photograph them and will get a cleaner image!

    Cheers again.

if you added some contrast, it would read more graphically.
Though there is something to be said for the shadows of paper too.

    Hey Alex,

I do kind of like the shadow of the paper too, but it really wasn't what i wanted. I agree with you, adding more contrast will definitely read better. I think it would add to my original idea as well, which was to have the couple as if they were specimens floating in blankness.

    Thank you.

Love the brain waves and heart lines connecting them.

    Hi Patrick,

Thank you so much for your comment. I'm glad that those came through, it made drawing it all in one continuous line so much easier too!

This is cool! I like the way you used the lines and feedback to show how they were connecting. Brilliant!
