1. First Test with HV30. Short moon timelapse
3 months ago
Well this is the first test I did with my newly bought hv30.
It's a timelapse and a bad one as well!!!
I didn't know about the gain so after a while it gets very noisy.
What I did is reduce the noise in post and also retouch the colours. As you can see none of it works well....

Doesn't look at all bad to me - couple of jerks in there, but otherwise quite a pleasing lunar progression.

What filter/technique did you use to reduce noise in post?

    :-)

Nothing too advanced. The basic remove grain effect in after effects. I had to play with the settings a bit and also reveal part of the original footage so it would look a bit more natural.

The amazing thing is that the effect quadrupled the render time!

since you're doing a time lapse, the shutter speed can go as low as you want, so i'd set it to 1/4 (i think it goes that low in 24p mode) and it will improve the low light a ton.

You're right! I will try it out in the next one!
