UPDATE: Make sure you check out the Oxford Plains Speedway channel for the latest track videos.

The racing season in the northeast is just getting started and the drivers and crews needed some practice. So did I. So I took my A1 out to a storied local track to get some footage and see how the Canon would handle the action.

The pit action was shot at 1/60 on auto aperture. I was playing with moves and not paying too much attention to critical focus, which came up soft more often than not.

The track footage was all manual. Most was 1/500 but I tried some as high as 1/2000 to see what would happen. I needed to blur out the chain link when possible so I tried to keep the iris open as wide as I could, which created challenges for focus. Turns out the best solution would be shooting around the fence, but that wasn't possible.

NOTE: I have updated the video with a new one that improves the slo-mo shot.
