See all Show me
Saw a lot of diy dollies and wanted to make one myself, just for fun. So I went to toy store to buy 2 mini skateboards for the wheels, then I went to a hardware store to buy an aluminium rail, some pliewood, some bolts and 2x 3 meter long plastic pipes with a total of arround €60 I created this dolly. At the end of the movie you can see the dolly.

My garden is not renovated yet so I had a lot of grass sticking to the wheels ;) You'll see.

Gear: Canon xha1, diy dolly (duh..), 1 cat and a lot of fun

Nice job! I'll have to make a dolly for myself at some point!

its only a few hour of work ;)
But make shure you use those big inline skate wheels whith good bearings (abec5 or abec9). It will be a much smoother result then the thing I made (toy mini-skateboard wheels and bearings)

Nice smooth dolly, clever design! Now I know what to do with my old inline skates! (abec 7 wheels.. woooh)

Just not sure how to get the pipes in my car lol...

haa, but I know how to put it in your car:
Open up passenger window and lower backseats.
Now put the pipes in your car thru your front window from the front to the back of your trunk! This way you don't have to drive with open trunk and it wont stick out of your car to much. ;)

lol that means i have to rip the giant LPG gas tank out of the trunk.. (LPG Gas is almost 1$ a liter cheaper here then regular petrol) or borrow my dads car!

Ever tried joining multiple pipes? My guess is in the grass you can just drop them down and they stay fixed, how about on the street? ... Anyway, perhaps I should just try myself, its not gonna break the bank or anything.

lol, no way I could know about your lpg tank ;)

I dont have the need to make the track longer but when I do, I know that I need more wheels because when gliding over the joints it wil shake just a little bit. (its nearly impossible to join 2 pipes seamless.

    Yeah I'm a cheap poser :)

Ah more wheels, didn't even think about that. Makes me wonder if you can use that bendy rubber flex pipe stuff, then again the design is not for cornering. Maybe this is something you can turn into a slider system as well. Like the indie slider. Ok to may ideas now lol....
