After two weeks of fairly solid rain, I thought it was finally letting up. Itching to shoot I decided to get some shots of the "aftermath" of the rain storms. But nature had other ideas. It stopped raining long enough for me to pack my gear (and my three sons) in the car, and then the heaven's opened up again. Fortunately I have a "People Mover" (Mini-van to our US friends), so I was able to shoot from under the back hatch. All of the stuff was shot within 10km of where I live on the NSW Central Coast - Warnervale, Wyong River and Yarramalong.

Shot with my EX1 at 1920x1080 25p. Even though most of it leant itself to being shot at 60fps I wanted to see what full HD would have looked like, and I am very happy with the results. Cut in FCP and graded in Color. Music is from one of the old production music CD's stored in my (flooded) garage.

Ease up a bit on the vignetting ;)

Thanks mate. Good point on the vignetting- I thought it was a bit severe myself, but being new to the whole color grading thing I was a little unsure of whether it was too much or not Now I know!

Shaun: Great choice of Music, as in your "Backyard" Video, With the music from the Icelandic group, it really added to a very "lyrical" Video, Beautifully done! The Roo's looked Real wet! I really enjoy your Videos!

Thanks Rick. I appreciate your comments, although the music in this piece was actually not from Sigur Ros but a production music CD. I was really stoked with the shots of the roos. I live in the bush, but only see the very occasional Wallaby- the roos have been "chased" away by development. But these roos must have been displaced by the flood waters and went to the highest ground. And all within a few miles of home.

Very Very nice film. Well photographed and edited. I also loved your choice of music. Did your sons get soaking wet? (bet they did) I am saving all your films.

Thanks Roger. I appreciate all of your comments and I am flattered that you are saving my videos! My three boys stayed in the car for most of the stuff I shot, but at one point they got out and I shot some slo-mo of them running through a flooded park. Two of them were wearing shorts and one jeans, so he had to watch the other two frolicking!

The frolicking (maybe slow mo) sounds like it would have worked in your film. I am the grandfather of six and a retired Music Educator. I like kids. Most of my shooting is family stuff these days. Keep up your excellent work. :o)

Beautifully serene montage of compositions. It's a fine budget professional that EX1; I couldn't see anything worse than a spot of purple fringing.
