Tibetans Lay Flowers of Peace
Story:
Tibetans in-exile lay white roses outside the Chinese embassy in the Nepalese capital Kathmandu. To the protesters the flowers symbolize peace.
[Nuwang, Tibetan Protester]: (male, english)
"Phul signifies peace. We are trying to say get well soon, because they are sick, you know, they are ill you know. They have to recover from the illness of violation of human rights. That's the main point."
Nepal has seen almost daily protests demanding freedom for Tibet, but police use beatings and arrests to stop them.
The Chinese Communist Party is pressuring Nepal to prevent Tibetan protests.
More than 20,000 Tibetans in-exile live in settlements across mountainous Nepal. They sought refuge after a failed uprising against the Chinese regime's rule in 1959.
