That was an excellent performance by Pierre but Connor seemed to be holding back.
  • Connor is camera shy.

    ahahahah
  • yeah i know it's weird I name everything...haha
  • Eric E. Anderson 2 years ago
I agree with Charlie... Pierre was outstanding, but you are going to have to do something about Connor.

Maybe his name is really Sam and since you call him Connor he is rebelling. Just thinking out loud...
  • Connor is kind of a bastard. When I first got him, he sliced my finger up in a bunch of different places. He's a fiesty little bugger.

abusive splicers is too common an incident to be ignored. but like partner abuse, is regrettably pushed to the back of the collective conscience.

it's just something people don't like to acknowledge. i hope you continue to speak out about it.

I did a ton of editing on a steenbeck. I still own 2, they're in the oil room at my ma's house. Princeton went digital and I frankensteined 2 from some storage facility who had 20 of their old ones. I also grabbed a bunch of lights and fans as well. It was a good score. Can't say I miss the steenbeck that much though.

  • That's cool. As if I didn't think you were cool already, you're even cooler. :-) snip snip snip. I love old stuff. My room is filled with a bunch of archaic crap. It keeps me going :-)

I'll wreck and salvage these mofos.

How in the heck did you get this footage with your iSight? I can't get mine to look anywhere this nice (as you can tell from all the Jarrett updates).
  • It's really a pain in the ass but here goes....

I bought an adapter for my bolex where you can attach nikon lenses to your bolex. I made a rig where I attached that adapter to my isight with gaff tape. I used iGlasses to zoom in because you get some bad vignetting. Also you can fix the white balance threshold and etc in that program. Then I did some killer noise reduction with a couple hours worth of rendering. I colour corrected the blacks to get rid of a lot of the noise as well and made the colours pop out.

Not really worth it, i dont think I want to do it again, i almost dropped my lap top a lot.

i was thinking of taking my laptop out and shooting grass but then I realized what a pain it is and opted out of it.
  • Daniel Hayek staff 2 years ago
You did this with an isight? how did you bump up the resolution to HD?

Sometimes I realize how little I know about video/film and I just... can't...understand...
  • i am messaging you.

    if there's a will..there's a way...
  • You know how videos look kinda grainy and crappy with the iSight Camera, if you put a lens over it...it gets rid of almost all the graininess..together with iGlasses (the program for the iSight Camera) you can adjust all the levels from whitebalance, contrast, threshold, etc...to make it look more presentable...but it is no easy task. upscale in FCP.

Oh my God! You edited this? This is you? I quit editing. I suck. You're amazing =0)
  • Hhaa yeah I edited this. It was mostly to prove a point to a certain someone that I could edit fast because everything, well, most, of the stuff I have uploaded on my vimeo is relatively slow. I had to mix things up a little bit. It's a tad sloppy but it will have to do for now. :-)

Whatever you make amazingly hilarious videos.

Awesome!! The process explained how it was made is too much for me to understand. I'm still at the pre-pre-infancy stage of my learning curve. Whatever it was, your video is amazing. They all are. For a while I thought I saw at the beginnning of the video an actor (gabby concepcion) from my homeland :)
  • hee hee, I don't really know what footage that was that I was cutting. I found it in my room. haha.

THank you so much for your kind words rookiedad! Take care.

fascinating. i always wanted to make a clip with fast fforward and backward scenes like using a jogshuttle and record that. but i dunno how to do that without a huge effort. i guess you have one of those magic machines or just your brilliant mind huh? :) great.
  • hahaha i dont have a magic machine, just patience for making hundreds of cuts.

    haha

    :-)

Did you ever try scratch films? Painting on the 16mm with photocolor inks? The process of making them would be good to document? I like your films a lot
  • Yeah I have a video on here of Brakhaging somewhere.... I want to do more tests but I've been so busy.

Snippity snip indeed. You know what would be rich at the end of this is some long, soothing something. I like how the subject is intensified by the complexity of the process that was used to create it.
  • hee hee that or a giant explosion, one or the other. :-)
