Texas Springtime
Some images from a recent trip to Fort Worth, Texas. All clips were shot with my little Sony A1U, an excellent little handheld camera for taking on vacation and other trips. The sunset and skyline were shot in front of the National Farm Life Insurance building near Brentwood Stair in Fort Worth, one of the highest points in Tarrant County, with a splendid view of the city skyline.
All shots were made using the standard lens + UV filter and/or ND filter. I used telephoto, shutter speed and ND filter to get as wide an aperture as the camera would allow, in order to get some interesting shallow DOF effects. I did not have a 35mm adapter at the time the clips were shot.
After seeing the clip online, I decided to touch up the contrast and colors just a bit in FCP. I just used the 3-color corrector feature. Mostly adjusting blacks and whites did the trick.
The shots were all in 1080x60i, so the segments with movement look a bit jerky in 720p24. Hopefully, the planned upgrade of Vimeo will allow 720p30 uploads.
For the curious: the flowers are mostly Bluebonnets, Indian Paintbrush, Evening Primrose and a wild sunflower of some kind. I also captured a couple of 3-petaled Cornflowers.

Vimeo already enabled the ability in March. They took it out a month later. The reason being, Flash is really slow as it doesn't use full acceleration from the graphics card compared to other media players, and most people's computers could not decode fast enough Flash at 720/30p.
If you don't want the jerkiness, you can try to export with your video editor at 24p, so this way you don't let Vimeo do the conversion. Usually, a good video editor can do it better than Vimeo.
