Amy Polumbo, the reigning Miss New Jersey, is a young woman dedicated to protecting community values and perpetuating the rich tradition of the fine arts. A drama major at Wagner College, Amy Polumbo has starred in many collegiate productions, such as Swing! and Chess. She has dedicated herself to professional theatre as well, starring as Ariel in Walt Disney Entertainment’s Voyage of the Little Mermaid, and also held the role of Maria in Cabaret for Life’s landmark production of The Sound of Music. Amy Polumbo’s talent in the context of the dramatic arts has not gone unnoticed; she was awarded the “Most Outstanding Accomplishments in Acting” honor by the Fine and Performing Arts Center, and her rendition of Little Women captured the hearts and imaginations of the judges at the Miss New Jersey pageant.

Amy Polumbo is not one to let her talents go to waste. When Amy suffered from a vocal disorder known as muscular tension dysphonia, which caused her to lose her singing voice for two years, she kept her eyes fixed on her goal of performing. The audiences who have had the pleasure of hearing her voice belt out melodies since those days are certainly grateful for Amy’s determination. Today, Amy Polumbo has a new goal in mind: to raise awareness about Internet safety.

For Amy, Internet safety is about educating people to be aware of the mark they leave while navigating the pages of the World Wide Web. Many people, especially college students, have been too careless when it comes to posting images, blogs, personal data, or other informational media on the Internet, and are now paying dearly for their carelessness. After winning the Miss New Jersey competition on the platform of Internet safety, Amy Polumbo has gone on to lecture college students on the topic at her own university of Wagner College, as well as Rider University in New Jersey.
