Actually your HDMI I/O on your HV20 can be used with the Black Magic Intensity or Intensity Pro. Which then By-Passes the dreaded HDV codec. Allowing you to capture ProRes, which is a better codec to cut with. Choose your codec and frame rate and away you go. Search the net for the drivers probably at Black magic's website.

However this is strictly for the MacPro. The card is not designed for the MBP. One expensive solution you may consider is looking into a AJA IO HD which is supported on the MBP.

The intensity does the transcode on the fly to a ProRes 24fp file. Happy cutting.
