  Hey it still turned out great! I mean it's not documenting her life and advice, but you turned it into a documentation of your experience.
  
  Sometimes we get great things out of what seems to be failure. In this instance it took you down an unintended avenue, so you documented what you aimed for and how you ended with what you got.
  
  Plus there's something visually nice about a time-lapse of a conversation from one person's point of view.

  Yeah, It's been a long time since I've splashed in iMovie so I never got into the new versions... but I'm pretty sure you can separate your sound and video.... 'Command J' springs to mind, actually I think that has something to do with creating single frames.... hmmm.... good luck ;)
