Last night Jeff and I saw Reggie perform at a club called The Box. He did a few different numbers, all of which were excellent. He performed this one with beatboxing flautist, Greg Pattillo. Last night I was using a new camera that I didn't quite have the hang of yet. I didn't realize that I had it in time lapse mode for most of the night. As a result, I ended up with like 15 seconds of video from the whole evening. haha! Oh well! Here it is anyway! I used Bruce Springsteen's Dancing in the Dark because, a) The clip features dancing in the dark, and b) last night I learned about the significance of Bruce Springsteen to New Yorkers. According to Zach, one in four songs you hear when you're out in New York will be The Boss. According to Peter, The Arcade Fire IS Bruce Springsteen. I think that's a quote. You can decide for yourself what it means. Funny thing is, I think I get what he meant.

After work yesterday I tagged along with Zach and Courtney while they did a little grocery shopping at the Whole Foods in Union Square. They have a really elaborate system for managing the lines. There is a massive bay of check out counters, each with it's own illuminated number above it. Rather then lining up at a a specific counter, you pick a color coded line to wait in. Then this big TV assigns the next available counter to each row in turn. The lit sign at the available counter blinks so that you can find it easily when you are called up. Does this make any sense? Maybe I'm the only one who hasn't seen something like this before. It made me a feel a bit like livestock, but it's really pretty clever. There were at least 10 billion people there so they definitely needed to get creative with line management.

We didn't take much video on our hike. We were too busy trying to breath! It's not a long hike but it covers a lot of vertical distance pretty quickly. Supposedly you can see both the ocean and Mt. Hood from the top of King Mountain. Unfortunately, it was really foggy and we really couldn't see anything at all. It was neat anyway, though. The fog was spooky and cool. Jeff and I spent the day at his parent's house yesterday. This is their 9 year old pomeranian, Chelsea. Man, this dog makes me laugh. Chelsea is actually, to steal a phrase from Dave Barry, the auxiliary dog. The primary dog is named Cody. He's a very friendly yellow lab. We did a lot of ball throwing for him and he accompanied us on a walk in the woods. But he's not nearly as funny to me as Chelsea is. I probably think this is a lot funnier then anyone else will. I spent a long time hunting and harassing Chelsea while Jeff made dinner. By the time the memory on my camera was full, I don't think she really liked me any more. But then I gave her a little piece of cheese and we ended up cuddling on the couch together for the Simpsons, so it's okay. Music is Mr. Tough by Yo La Tengo.

I'm taking Anthropology this term and I've found myself drawing a lot of monkeys. You can tell by the scientific accuracy of my drawings that my understanding of physical anthropology is very advanced. I was so excited about this project when I first started it, but then I got a little burnt out on it so I set it aside for awhile. Then I came back to it. Then I got frustrated. Then I set it aside again. Today I came to the conclusion that I would never again have any desire to work on it... But it still makes me laugh so it would be a shame not to share it with you guys! Even though it does end pretty abruptly now. Music is Swing Set by Jurassic 5. Also.. I was kind of thinking this could be my entry for the Vimeo Portrait Project for dalas verdugo: http://www.vimeo.com/clip:3924 EDIT: I guess maybe the frame rate is a little off or something.
