I play on two APA (American Poolplayers Association) teams; one is 9-ball, the other 8. This is a minute showing an average Tuesday night playing 8-ball. It's kinda like looking over my shoulder from an Internet distance. For the 365minutes Project vimeo.com/three65minutes @Tian - Getting you something uncompressed just became too hard [See related post vimeo.com/813153]. So, I tried to keep the clip full size, but iMovie will not de-interlace full size HD (1920x1080), so 720 will have to do. All these clips are in low light conditions - hope this helps with your camera comparisons.

These shots were put together to test whether "Night Scene Mode" should be used on your consumer camera. Based on the results, I say neigh. However, my camera (HDC-SD1) has good size chips and does a real nice job on low light scenes automagically. Watch for the *ON/*OFF indications in the video for a visual cue. I had to add the little bit at the end because the plane fly by was perfectly timed with the ad reveal on the billboard - I just thought that was cool. Stay classy, San Diego.

My wife and I had a nice afternoon at the maritime museum in San Diego Bay. She likes to talk to me while I am filming... she is so much fun. Featuring these historic ships: Star of India - The Star of India is the world's oldest active ship. She began her life on the stocks at Ramsey Shipyard in the Isle of Man in 1863. Iron ships were experiments of sorts then, with most vessels still being built of wood. HMS Surprise - Strike a pose at the helm of HMS. Surprise just like Russell Crowe as Captain "Lucky Jack Aubrey." The ship used in the academy award winning film, Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World found a permanent home at the Maritime Museum of San Diego in 2004. HMS Surprise is a magnificent replica of an 18th century Royal Navy frigate. B-39 Soviet Attack Submarine - One of a fleet of diesel electric submarines the Soviet Navy called “Project 641." 300 feet in length and displacing more than 2000 tons, B-39 is among the largest conventionally powered submarines ever built. My wife and I had a great day hanging out in downtown San Diego. We like to "people watch" and ended up sitting for awhile at the MTS station @ the Museum of Contemporary Art - mcasd.org. Make sure to listen for my wonderful wife's commentary... she cracks me up. My two favorites: (00:55) - she asks "how do you push play" and grabs the camera while I am recording - and (03:22) she comments on how the homeless have to deal with so many bags. (please don't take this out of context, she loves everything and everyone)

The settings in this tutorial will produce a large video — like... really, really, big — but they look great! Panasonic HDC-SD1 & iMovie 08

Based on the recommendation of Apple during the iMovie 08 announcement awhile back, I purchased the Panasonic HDC-SD1. Unfortunately, iMovie 08 does not recognize the 5.1 Digital Surround Sound audio recorded with the on camera mic. It imports a full right channel along with a 10% left channel based on center... I think. Arrg. I should have expected a different language on the remote - I saved two hundred bucks on the purchase from Broadway Photo in New York. Most likely, the camera is a "gray market" item. All the packaging seemed re-used and the instruction manual is still on "back order". Oh well, I got a big discount. I created this sarcastic rant just to share my audio nightmare with vimeo.
