  • If something goes wrong, or doesn’t work, what should I do?

Try again! Sometimes the best way to fix a problem is to try it again. If your problem doesn’t work after multiple attempts, try holding down the shift button on your keyboard and pushing the reload button on your browser. This method resets the cache in your browser which will often clear up any problems. If this method still doesn’t work, quit your browser and reopen it and try again. If the problem still persists, try looking in the forums for answers or email help@vimeo.com.

  • What are the file size and duration limits on what videos I can upload?

The only limit is 500 MB per week, which resets on the day you originally signed up for Vimeo.

  • How do I change my email address?

Go to your personal “Settings”, add as many email addresses as you wish, then set which one you want as the main email address where you will receive notifications from Vimeo. A verification email will be sent to the new email address for you to confirm that you are a real human.

  • Becoming a Vimeo User and getting people to watch your videos

One of the best aspects of Vimeo is our friendly community. Participating in the community is completely optional, but we believe that if you interact with the other users, you'll find the experience to be very rewarding.

Let's say you just joined the website and uploaded a video of your cat. Tag the video with the word 'cat' so that other cat-lovers can find it. Now click on the number next to your tag. Here are all the cat videos! You can also use the search feature to find videos.

If you find a video you like, leave a comment. You can also click "Like it" to show your appreciation. Not only does this give the owner of the clip a good feeling, but now they are likely to check out your videos. If they comment on your clips and click on "Like it", your videos will be brought to the attention of their contacts, which will increase the amount of views and activity your clips receive.

If someone adds you as a contact and you enjoy their clips, go ahead and add them as a contact and subscribe to their clips. The more you interact with Vimeo in these ways, the more members of the community you will meet.

Another great way to meet people and discuss ideas is by checking out the forums. Try looking in the projects forum to see if there are any projects being worked on. Chances are that you can join a project and have fun with people from all over the world.

As long as you maintain a respectful attitude towards the people you encounter, and explore the many creative videos our members have uploaded, you can have a very positive experience on Vimeo.

  • I have a question that was not answered in this FAQ. What should I do?

If I were you, first I would search our forums for an answer, and if I could not find one, I would email help@vimeo.com or send an AIM chat message to the screen name vimeo, or the screen name vimeohelp.
