5 months agoJoel Dueck commented on Privacy Bug - Private group commentsIf you post comments to a video within a private group, you would think those comments would be, well, private. However those comments will still be visible under the "Recent activity" on your public user profile page along with the rest of your vimeo activity, even for web users who are not logged in. I tried to contact vimeo staff about this on Friday but haven't heard back yet. Meanwhile, the only workaround is: after commenting in a private group, immediately create five likes or comments afterwards in order to bump your "private comment" off of the Recent Activity spot on your profile page. I suspect that these unfortunately-not-private comments may also be showing up in our contacts' inboxes and in the summary emails vimeo sends to our contacts. The videos with which I found out about this bug were set to "Viewable by no one" and were only able to be seen from within the private group to which they were added.
