TROUBLE SHOOTING YOURSELF: PLEASE READ!!!!
1. First make sure you can view videos on Vimeo. If you can't, make sure you update your browser and your flash here: vimeo.com/help/flash
2. Make sure you have reviewed the recommended setting here:

3. Take a deep breath
4. Try out the basic uploader: vimeo.com/upload/video/basic
5. Try our desktop uploader, especially for large files over 1GB: vimeo.com/desktopuploader
6. Try not to have too much going on in other tabs or browsers as long files tend to get hung up if there is too much other activity.
7. Please turn off any virus protection or ad block, or energy saving settings!!
8. If, when uploading, the progress bar jumps to 99% or 100% right away, or freezes on certain percentages, try the basic uploader above and make sure the file name doesn't have any spaces or symbols in it.
9. If your video gets stuck in the 'Holding Pattern' please be patient, it means it failed to convert once and we will try again, it may just take a while. If you need the video to be converted immediately, please delete that video and try uploading again.
We are currently aware of a conversion problem with some videos. Please post links in this thread for us to take a look while we try to fix this issue. Thanks for your patience.

I uploaded this video. But I cant figure out that why it is not playing properly. I can only hear audio and watch some frames from the video. Most of the frames from the video are skipped. I uploaded it with the recommended settings in the MOV container.

"It's the quicktime export that seems to do thg with the files that vimeo doesnt like. My pictures (jpeg or png) were exported directly from quicktime, using the still image export. Didn't work.
If I open the files in any image editor and then saves 'em again, all goes well... Quite strange, but I guess the problem is solved... "

I could use some specific advice on compression settings- I tried the Ed McNichol settings, but after 15 hours of compression, with another 8 to go, I gave up and created custom settings based on vimeo compression page, in mp4 format. (see earlier post) Does mp4 format make larger files than quicktime? IF quicktime makes smaller file, why would it take 24 hrs to compress an 11 min video? I have maximum RAM and plenty of space in hard drive.

I've got a 1.72GB sized .m4v video file I want to upload to Vimeo. Unfortunately no matter which of the three ways you suggest (i.e., Regular, Basic, and Desktop via an Intel Mac running Mac OS 10.6.2), I cannot successfully upload it. Can you please help me with this problem?

This video was trimmed using Quicktime from it's original length 1:45 to 1:36. When I uploaded it on Vimeo it untrimmed it to 1:45 again. The orginal quick time file is still available for download so you can compare.
Last time I posted I got a reply on my email from "Daniel Hayek" saing "trying to fix this now" flowed by an email from vimeo saing "your video is online now"

As with others - my video is now stuck in a holding pattern. I've been waiting for over a day. "There was a problem converting your video but we're going to try it again." Can someone at Vimeo (a) get this done and (b) explain to all of us,especially those of us who are Plus paying customers, what the problem is and what you are doing to address the problem. I think you owe us that much.

Sorry for the delay, I'm running this again now.
I just signed up a day or so ago, and see that there are some issues happening, so I'm going to keep from trying to do to much, but I haven't been able to even upload an avatar successfully - I'm also not allowed to view portraits that have been uploaded, just the "x" that you can push to delete a portrait.

A video I uploaded yesterday took until 11:30pm (japan time) last night to upload. I could watch it this morning and we've had quite a few views but now it is converting again. I think this is because I tried to upload it numerous times yesterday. I'd really appreciate it if the video could stop converting? Our queue is moving but may be longer for basic members, I would wait to see if it starts, we've been seeing videos converting, but just taking a little while to do it.
I've left a comment in the forum regarding an issue with a video I've uploaded.
The gentleman said he'd look into but I'm still getting the same message. One Moment, Your video will start converting in a moment. I've been checking each day (the video was uploaded 4 days ago) and passed through one conversion on the day I uploaded it, but it doesn't seem to be displaying.
I uploaded the video in .mov format.
Please help asap as my client is waiting to post the video.

All my other videos work, and I compressed them all with the same program. As far as I know I had compressed the latest one to the same settings. I've tried remaking the file, but they're still not uploading.
