    The new embed code does not let one abutt a vid right up against the video player (the main reason I chose vimeo's player over all the competition).

    Is there some way around this?

    The old one was a small and elegant bit of code. I wonder why this knew bulky number seems to do less with more?

    please advise.

    The embed tag, while smaller and more elegant, is also a proprietary extension. We switched to the object tag because it's the standards-compliant way to embed, even though it's bulkier. Objects can be bumped up against an image just as easily as an Embed, but your particular case might require some small CSS tweaks.

    While I appreciate the "let's go standard" approach, the bottom line for me is that it does not embed anymore in microsoft spaces blogs. I have not found the tweak yet to make it work in spaces. Would it be possible to post the "old" code so I can modify it as i see fit ? Thx

    <embed src="http://vimeo.com/moogaloop.swf?clip_id=233303&server=vimeo.com&fullscreen=1" quality="best" allowFullScreen="true" scale="showAll" width="460" height="345" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" />

    We're going to make it an option to use one or the other very soon, but this should work for now.

    Is this now an option? I have to use the old embed code to get the videos to look right on my site in Firefox (the new code works fine in IE and Safari, but not Firefox...)

    Something appears to have changed again today, causing all the Vimeo videos I had embedded in my Windows Live Spaces blog to no longer show up. I've been using the code Justing gave here.

    Since the change, I've tried updating to the new code that the new embed buttons on the videos provides, but it doesn't seem to work either. Is there anything I can do to get these working on Live Spaces again?

    Do you have a link to the Live Space that we could look at? If its private, email one of the old embed tags to help@vimeo.com and we'll fix it.

    Wow, thanks for the fast reply. I've emailed the two types of tags I've been using - both of which are currently failing on Live Spaces.

    I think you'll have to email it to get them to show up: help@vimeo.com

    I sent them in on the 11th, but haven't received any responses yet. Strangely, some of the older Vimeo vids I have on my blog still work (using the old code), but the few most recent ones do not. Can anyone help?

    After some more testing, it looks like half my problem was having the video inside the table. I'd been putting videos on my page with descriptions over on the right. Whereas that used to work, it doesn't anymore.

    Anyhow, with the embed code now on it's own, it's working again. The player's embed and full screen buttons don't work, but at least I can put my videos on my spaces blog once again.

    My embed isn't even working (This is a bit non-related, but I felt bad creating another thread..). Neither that nor the share button...

    vimeo.com/350474
    using Safari.

    Works now...?
  • Blake Whitman 7 months ago
    does or doesn't?
  • Cameron Christopher 7 months ago

    Buuut now it doesnt.

    (Edit: Just saw Ted's post)

    Yeah, my embed and share function doesn't seem to work either. Also using Safari.
  • Joel Curran 7 months ago
    Same here, using safari and it doesnt work.
    But it does when I use firefox... So it must be safari...

    Sadly, at the moment the "embed" and "share" links don't work in Safari if you have "Block Pop-up Windows" on. We're working on it, but in the mean time you could temporarily disable that feature before clicking share/embed.

    From the menu: "Safari -> Block Pop-up Windows"

    Neither in Firefox. Anyway i'd like to hide this two buttons SHARE and EMBED. Is there some way to do that?
  • Blake Whitman 13 days ago
    that was a very old post as you can see and doesn't have anything to do with the present. At this time there is no way to shutoff share and embed.
  • Soxiam 13 days ago
    share and embed should work fine in firefox unless you have installed something proprietary to stop that. if you do not want people to share or embed your video, you can make it private.

    i don't care if they are embedding it or sharing. i just don't want the buttons to appear and cover video on my website.
