right now an old canon powershot g2, but in two days i'll be using the tiny canon powershot sd1000. i hope it's good. it got good ratings, so i have my fingers crossed.

I currently use an SD1000 and find it to be good, most of the time. Take this video as an example (except for the very end): vimeo.com/272632

Also take into account that I change the resolution to widescreen in iMovie..
  • Ian Lucero 11 months ago
Yay! I just got the SD1000 the other day and shot a little bit of video and photos with it and love it so far. So small. I'll be posting more videos and photos on the production blog:

JVC Everio GZ-MG155U It is a Hybrid that records video & still images on HDD or SD. It is very small and powerfull. check it out. I think everybody needs one. Help us fight the new world order. Listen to Alex at infowars.com ... Become a infowarior before they take you're camera away. New York NY. has PROHIBITED all cameras with out special permision & One Million dollors of insurance and a stinkin permit. I say screw them. This is still America as far as I am concerned and no body is going to take my first amendment away.

i use the Aipken Go-HD I got it for $200. The quality on it is near HD. I go everywhere with it. Everything on the camera is good. The only flaws about this camera is there is no stability control, audio distorts in loud atmosphere, not really great in low light environment. But overall, I really like this camera because it's small and it fits in my pocket where ever I go.

I videos I posted are from the Aipken Go-HD

    Moving:
Sony EX-1, Canon XH-A1, Canon HV-20, Canon HV-10. Though I love all of my children, The Sony wins hands-down. The HV-20 wins hands-down for sub-$1000. The HV-10 wins for tiny tiny tiny HD. The XH was awesome but I grew weary of DV tape breaks/errors and sold it to the paper I worked for. They went under. it got auctioned off cheap, apparently... But I walked with their lavs so all is good.

    Still:
    Nikon D200 x2
    Canon Powershot G9

    Editing:
    MacPro (8x2.8ghz with 8GB ram)
    MacBook Pro (C2D 2.33 with 3GB ram)
    Final Cut Studio 2
  • Stephen Lewis 3 months ago
How many tape-issues were you getting. If you use professional-grade tapes (and it looks like you are a pro), then you should be getting errors VERY infrequently.
  • Joshua Fleetwood 3 months ago
it varied... the better the tape, obviously the less errors. However, my (now defunct) Paper was cheap as hell and would not listen when I said buy pro hdv tapes... to late now :)

Sanyo Xacti CG65, a really great little H264+AAC VGA video camera and 6mp stills camera.

Most of the videos I have up here at the moment are just ‘mp4’ files straight off the camera at Super High Quality setting. The files which are edited were done in iMovie ‘08. :)

I love it! The Photo function and Anti Shake are the most impressive features.

For photographs a Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ18, great thing, the lens is just soo beautiful (And the dof - aaaah!)
For editing a mac mini 1,6 dual core, with a 22" lcd.
All I need to make beautiful things (hopefully)

Recently added the Sony PMW-EX1 to my equipment list.
    Other cameras I own:

    Sony HVR-V1U (2)
    Canon HV20 (1)

Soon to purchase several more EX1s. Now that Adobe Premiere supports XDCam EX totally, it is liberating. Instant shoot to edit and no more dropouts, a/v sync issues, etc. And the sound.. with a good external mic, the EX1 produces near studio-grade sound.

Currently I'm using a custom modified Nokia n95. It has a 37mm adapter thread that allows other lenses and filters to be added. I prefer the wide angle lens. We made a video using the modified phones here:
