even though I have unchecked "download source video" in privacy settings, people can download video using Real players download option.
    How do you prevent it
  • Ted Roden 8 months ago
That checkbox only stops people from downloading your original source video. They'll still be able to access (that is, download) the flash video file though.

I think that there is no way that you can prevent people from downloading your video if you upload it to the web.

our licensing agreements (for the music in our program) say we cant directly allow viewers to permanently download and "save" the videos locally on their computer.

ive been looking everywhere for this option to unable downloading of the source movies, but cant find it. can anybody help me locate this? appreciate it.

Select the Video, klick on the "Settings" icon (in the top right corner), select "Privacy" (in the menu left) and disable "Allow other people to download the source video."

edit: Ah, look here is a how-to: vimeo.com/232857

    Hope this helps!

Are you sure it's not just allowing YOU to download it? You're the owner of the video, so you'll always be able to download your own file.

I don't see any link to your source file when I look at your videos so I think it is all working as it should be.

Unfortunately you'll never be able to stop people from downloading the streaming 'flv' file... that is easily done using any number of plugins for browsers and whatnot... but since you are not providing a direct link to the source I don't think you have a problem in terms of breaching any licensing agreement. You've disabled the direct download of the source file, which I think is all that can be expected.

I notice that even though I've checked the don't allow download check box, there's still a link on my page to download .MOV file. When I click on that, the movie comes up in Quicktime, and the Quicktime menu has a save choice if you have Quicktime Pro (which I don't). Does this mean it's that simple to download? I realize other people can download if they're willing to work a bit even if I don't want them too--but this seems far too easy for a video that's supposed to be restricted from downloading.

*you* can always download *your own* files.
