• After being scammed horribly on eBay, I decided to say screw it and purchase this camera new right from Sony. I was lucky enough to have someone help me out at Sony and get me a good price. So in the end, I made out. It was worth it for me.

Could you link me to some videos you shot and uploaded to vimeo with it? I am buying one in the next week or so...I considered the HV20 but I need some of the manual features like the focus ring, etc
  • All of my recent videos are from the FX1. If you look at my profile, all videos up until the "rubbing and rapping" video are shot on the FX1. "Taken" was also shot with the FX1 but I uploaded an older video after that which placed it in front of it.

So how do you like the camera so far. Im looking into getting one as well.
  • I love it. It's really great. the only downfall for me is that it doesnt shoot 24P and doesnt have any extra XLR audio inputs. Quick Tip: use the reply button so I know you replied to my post. :)

I'll agree the only downside on this camera is no XLR. But if your doing anything where you want good audio anyway you won't be using the camera to record your sound. You can always get an external preamp and run line in if you need audio in the camera.

I have had a Fx1 for a couple of years and think its great video wise. I do have some grips. They gain control seems to kick in even if you don't have it set to on. You seem to have to set it to on and then turn it down to 0db.
On the Audio side it's not great but alright. The lack of XLRs is an issue and my work around for the problem was to record the sound separate on a zoom H4 with a Sennnheiser mic. This allows lots of control and the zoom is cheaper then any of the Xlr connectors for the camera I've seen.
All in all a great camera for the money
I'll be posting some footage soon.
