    Windows MovieMaker gives me limited control over the length of "frames" in an animation project. I need software that will let me line up several photos and time each one precisely -- down to fractions of a second.
    Here's my latest project: vimeo.com/975537
    There is a photo for every pluck, and the key points line up;
    but it was simply not possible to set every frame as I wanted.

    Any recommendations for movie editing software?

    Thanks,
    -jb

    If you want an editing program for free that will output in SD WMV and possibly give you the level of control, that you require, over the exact duration of each photo on the timeline, you could try videospin.com/ a free download from Pinnacle.

    As a free alternative to WMM its OK, best of luck...

    Videospin does give me much finer control of the frame length -- thanks for the recommendation!

    Should keep you going until you find a good deal on the Adobe software.

    I find it is better to open Videospin off-line, then one doesn't get those distracting advertisements next to the preview screen - the opening animation always makes me jump however! I can not find a way of stopping that.

    Looking forward to perhaps seeing one of your Videospin projects here on vimeo, cheers.

    Since your in the PC world probably the best bang for the buck is Adobe Premiere Elements. It will do what your asking, but if the durations are different you'd have to manually size each image. You can probably get the previous version (3) cheaply on ebay or amazon.

    Also, Magix Movie Edit Pro version 12 (they just came out with version 14) is still in Best Buy and now sells for $29.95. I got it to edit video from my dig camera on my laptop, and it is pretty good, and will do what you want as well.

    Thanks for the recommendation! I'm going to stimulate the economy by getting the latest bundle of Premiere & Photoshop Elements...
