HD is off, and I can't turn it on. in the Vimeo Bugs Forum

HD is off on every video I try to watch. When I click the HD is off button to obviously turn it on as it worked in the past, a big box drops down and says "guess what, you can watch this video in High-Definition on Vimeo!" [ when im on vimeo ] . So I click the link and it sends me to the same page again, with HD off once again. rinse and repeat. I can't turn HD on, for any videos :(

i think you are talking about the embedded video player outside vimeo? the HD button on those players are meant to indicate that you can watch the video in HD on vimeo. once you come to the clip page on vimeo, the HD button should now be functioning when you click on it (to turn HD on/off).

by the way, the HD button on vimeo is 'sticky' - meaning if you turn it on or off, it remembers your setting until the next time you change it. that could explain why all the videos you saw on vimeo.com was set to 'off' by default.

I'm talking about the vimeo player on the vimeo site. absolutely none of the videos will allow me to turn it on. I'm thinking for some reason vimeo thinks im watching it from an embedded player when I'm not. I even click "you can watch this on vimeo.com in HD" link that takes me to the same vimeo page I was originally on, and it still doesn't work.

I have the same problem: all vimeo video in vimeo player has the HD flag turned off. It all worked perfectly till yesterday but today, when I click on HD off button I have the message "guess what, you can watch this video in High-Definition on Vimeo!" on each video. When I click on that link I return back to the same position.
I tried to reinstall the flash player plugin and clean all temporary internet files in Firefox but didn't help.
Probably something has been changed on the site...

Admins, please note that Mykstro is talking about pages on Vimeo, not on external sites as embed. He IM'ed me about the problem too as he couldn't watch my HD video as HD on Vimeo.

Anyone else who recently had this problem find a fix to it? Because mine has been on the fritz like this for a couple days now.

Vimeo HD videos worked perfectly since some days ago...
Then I think some change has been made to the site or to the video engine or to something else and now many users has HD video not working.
So how could users find a fix? We can only hope Vimeo stuff fix it very very soon... :)

Yeah, This is happening to me as well. It was working fine earlier today around noon. Now I am having this problem..
I also get this annoying pop up on my own video's that I have locked saying "You are logged in to Vimeo and have permission to view this video" instead of the thumbnail.. I'd hope so, since it's my own video lol

i suspect the latter issue you are describing is linked to the HD bug. we will fix this soon.

Ok, updating my post, I'm currently using SAFARI for windows. I've been using it for months now, but it seems there is no HD bug in WINDOWS EXPLORER... I've done a clean install of the whole pc 2 days ago... so everything should be up to date (drivers and so) and working perfectly. But HD only working in windows explorer...

Exact same thing is happening with me.. Windows Explorer HD works perfect but Safari it doesn't work. I like safari to much to go back to IE though. So I hope they can fix it.

Just FYI, I have this "no HD" problem on two different Macs, one is brand new. The problem happens with both Safari and Firefox.
