I am considering a wide angle lense for my mew hf100 and came across these on BHphoto. bhphotovideo.com/c/product/480672-REG/Impact_DVSWA4537_DVS_WA45_37_37mm_45x_Wide.html bhphotovideo.com/c/product/445208-REG/Impact_DVPWA5037_DVP_WA50_37_37mm_0_5x_Wide.html. They both have good reviews and have greater magnification than the canon one. .45 and .5 compared to .7x. I was just wondering if anyone had used or heard anything about them before.
    thanks

Also, would there be a noticable difference between .45 and .5x?

One thing people really forget when buying lenses for their HD cameras is that lenses for HD require a FINER glass. Otherwise you lose a LOT of quality. Unless the product specifically says that it's made for HD, *avoid*.

There is a reason why I bought the Canon WD-H43 for my HV20 for $210 instead of buying some no-name lenses for $20 or $30. These are good only for plain DV -- at best.

No joke. The glass quality that goes into the lens is CRUCIAL. Though it introduces minimal image definition degradation, it is still preferable over the sub $ 100 models out there.

I know, I have to scrutinize it with a 106" screen with my hi-def burns.

what about fotodiox wideangle lens ?

The answer was already given. You google the specs of the lens and if it specifically says that it's good for a HD, you go for it, if not, you avoid it.
