i was reminded of this project by a passage i just read:

"in this chapter, the first statement of becoming human as a view of the good life is by the contemporary humanistic psychologist, carl rogers. rogers' account is drawn from many years as a practicing psychotherapist, helping troubled individuals to move toward greater wholeness and health. as a therapist, rogers does not suggest solutions to his clients' problems, but rather seeks to create an environment of 'unconditional positive regard,' in which they feel safe and free to be themselves. in this climate of unconditional acceptance, rogers finds that individuals use their psychological freedom to grow in a variety of ways toward greater health and fuller functioning."

now, participation in this project of course cannot substitute for therapy, but i hope that we all will try to create "a climate of unconditional acceptance" for each other. only if we feel comfortable being our selves can we become our selves.
