This was a DoF test using no add-ons. So many people are quick to get DoF adapters but if you know how to use the camera you can get great DoF. Most DoF adapters actually work a little too well for amateur users and they tend to over use it which makes the image blur in and out the whole time. Watch a movie, they don't do that. heh.

    There has actually been a lot of study done with DOF adapters. If you use just your camera to get DOF you have to back away from the subject, then zoom in. This actually creates an unrealistic background blur because then the background is much larger than it would be in real life. I think DOF adapter user footage blurs in and out because if the focus pulling or rack focus (which they actually do use in movies). :)

    I know that they use focus pullers in movies, but not focus pullers that look like they're on speed. I mean you have to admit that most people's footage looks crazy. I mean, even on close range footage the focus is in and out and in and out with no direction. Looks like a dream sequence or something. lol

    Yeah I agree. Most people don't know what they are doing and they get too excited over the fact that they can do a rack focus and they over do it for sure.
