I finished it. This video will make its non-web premier April 12, 2008 in Hjoerring, Denmark. Special thanks to Martin Jørgensen, technical director of Hjørring Bibliotekerne for inviting me and my video to be a part of the opening. This version differs slightly from the excerpt I posted because I re-edited the entire video from scratch at the last minute (more file problems!). It took me 14 hours of working straight through to finish in time for the opening, but I think it has paid off and I really hope you enjoy it as much as I do. (see the excerpt two posts back for a description of content)

This is the audio from an upcoming sound installation I'm working on. The project explores the ritual of the slumber party and is sort of a mini-documentary. I invited a group of friends over for a "mock slumber party" and we ordered pizza, played video games, ate cupcakes, drank wine, and I gave each of them an interview about his or her own sleepover thoughts and experiences. This track has not yet been mixed or leveled in any way so it may be best listened to on headphones if your computer speakers are really quiet.

this is just one part of a video installation featured at the Platform Animation Festival, done in collaboration with Phoebe Owens. the installation intended to be a meditation on the separate parts of memory: what we experience and what of that experience we try to impart on others. i made this film short (super-8 film and digital video) for the 'private side' of the installation and presented it inside a box i built so that only one viewer could see it at a time.

this video is based on the brian eno/harold budd piano composition of the same name. the song in relation to its title made me think of that space of time between when you first try to think of something and when you actually remember it. this video illustrates that lack of clarity. someone's face...someone's name...that one moment...it's not quite remembered yet. this piece was made in May of this year, but after an unfortunate series of events i found myself with neither a hard copy of the video nor the final cut pro file. so i went back to the original DV tape and i am re-editing it; partially from memory but also with a fresh perspective. i don't have time to finish editing it now, but i will finish as soon as classes are out for the winter break.

i installed this today in the IMAG gallery at PNCA. the video is comprised of ten frames showing a looping stop-motion sequence. there are 15 mini animations in the sequence. the center frame is a video still. the piece is projected onto a box i built, the center is cut out so the eyes are set back against the wall. it is silent.
