Laura Sebastián Magaña (born in Spain 1981, based in Helsinki, Finland)
I've always been interested in those artists who dispense with muses and use themselves and their bodies as models in their artworks.
Maybe because I understood very soon, that artist and creative people have an odd exhibitionist complex in common.
I am happy being who creates the piece (creator) and a the same time the artistic product (artifact).
People can judge me as an artist and artistic product at the same time, and that fact is a double risk that I take.
Thus I enter into new narcissistic expressions and statements.
The pieces that have provided me better lessons, for individual and collective intelectual levels, have been all those pieces in which I was something more than the hand that filming, photography or painting.
That is the reason because my pieces disscuss about myself but a the same time discuss about general topics like, stereotype publicity images, artifiacial beauty, women cliches, etc.
Nowadays I am working with other movement image languages, but always forward to explain myself and thus, the world around me.
I love to see myself in my pieces and of course let everybody to watch me in them.
